2009 Lyman and Debras Cabin Quilt

Lyman and Debra have built a cabin on Kolob Mountain.  For the Cabin, and Christmas, I finished them a Cabin Quilt just before we left on our mission.  This is a picture of the unquilted top.

2010 Christmas Quilts on the reservation

For Christmas 2010 the Sisters in the Indian Wells Branch made quilts for six of  the Elderly sisters in the Branch.

2010 Chelsea John's Graduation Quilt

For Chelsea John the Indian Wells Branch Sisters made her a traditional Star Quilt.  She was delighted with it.  We tied it.

2011 Four Inch Flannel Squares x3

I like to buy cute flannel fabric, cut it into 4" squares, and just save it til I want to make an everyday baby quilt.  This past summer I sewed up three of them.  Two I sent to Scarlett Miller who grew up in our ward, now lives in Brooklyn, New York, and recently had twin boys.  The third Carrie and I gave to the Quarm family in our ward who recently had their first son.  On these I did what I usually do and tied it with the  crows foot stitch.

2011 From Korea

While we were on our mission our daughter-in-law Niki thought about us and sent me fabric to make a quilt.  She choose colors she thought would match the SouthWest.  I did not get the quilt made while we were on our mission, but I did finish it after we got home.  Carrie helped and chose the border and backing fabrics, which I think really work well.  Virginia Gore quilted it for me.  It fits a twin bed.

2009 Buggy Barn Butterflies

Buggy Barn Quilts are such fun because they are easy to cut out, and you don;t try to match seams.  When a block is all sewn together you just cut it to size.  Carrie fell in love with these prints, so we made a buggy barn butterfly in order to use the fabrics. The borders are from a border fabric.   I made it twin size, and had Virginia Gore machine quilt it.

2011 Another Barbizon Quilt

I am trying to made a quilt out of my stash of quilt fabric for each quilt that I buy fabric for.  This should reduce the number of my stored projects.  I have a tote labeled "Ruth Ann's Baby Quilts".  In it I found a pile of barbizon fabric cut into 3 1/2 inch squares.  I bought some lightweight heirloom fabric to alternate with the barbizon squares, and made a baby quilt for a fellow primary teacher.  It is so light and airy.  I hand quilted it.  I bound it using pink piping.

Barbizon Quilt

Decades ago there was a Barbizon Nightgown factory in Provo.  They sold their scraps of fabric for next to nothing, and everyone made Barbizon Quilts.  The fabric was light, with delicate colors.  As a newlywed I started one, but only finished it in 2009 when we were cleaning out to get ready for our mission.  It is a basket pattern.  At the time I knew nothing about 1/4" seams, and little about matching points on triangles.  But I began to learn.
I had Virginia Gore machine quilt it for me after I left for our mission.
